M H Elliott of 3302 Garrell St retires after 44 years with Globe Furniture Co. A native of Oak Grove near Beaufort, he moved to High Point in 1927 and has lived there since. In retirement he will pursue Civil War history as an active hobbyist.

Fire at Home Kills Hazel Cox

Hazel Cox, 53, died Sunday in a rural Mamers home fire in Dunn North Carolina. The fatal blaze occurred at the residence causing the death of the unnamed resident. Fire officials investigated the scene for the cause and origin of the blaze.

Arwood Corp Posts 1970 Net Loss After Charges

Arwood Corporation reports a net loss of 132900 from continuing operations for the year ended December 31 1970, reversing a 1999 net income from operations of 633000 after charges totaling 1169900.
