State Elections Board secretary Alex Brock reported on December 1 there are 1,867,327 registered voters in NC. Democrats total 1,415,432. Republicans 400,104. Independents 45,086, with whites numbering 1,571,508 and non whites 285,745. County breakdowns include Mecklenburg 125,501 and Guilford 102,625.

Cab Driver Wounded In Legs In 150 Mile Ride Ends In Pendleton
An Atlanta cab driver Jorge Reingold and alleged kidnapper Ben Bleckley were wounded in the legs during a 150 mile ride that ended in a wreck near the Pendleton police station. Bleckley, 61, faced charges of carrying a concealed weapon and drunkenness. The ride started with a request to Toccoa and ended with Bleckley fleeing the car, both men shot in the legs, and Bleckley later held awaiting GBI agents.
