Local Legislators Say Council Status Unchanged
Representatives Waynick and Turner of Guilford dismissed claims that High Point has no functioning government under the new charter. They argue the law preserves the old council until successors are elected and qualified, citing state statute 3205 and civil government principles. City officials sought amendments to clarify the status, while a legislative delay postponed last night’s council meeting.
