Storms Leave Carolinas Enduring Damage Across Counties
Storms across the Carolinas brought heavy rain and destructive winds yesterday. A child died when the home of Floyd Stevens was demolished in this county, while others suffered minor injuries or escaped unharmed. Widely scattered damage included roofs torn, windows blown out, and trees felled from Newton to Fayetteville and Greenville. Local flooding and weakened drainage compounded the impact with property losses at several towns.
