Judge disputes board figures on busing desegregation plan
U S District Judge James B McMillan rejects the Charlotte Mecklenburg board’s estimates on desegregation busing. He finds the maximum additional riders at 13 300 and required buses at about 138, far fewer than the board's 19 285 riders and 442 buses. He also places the plan cost at 532 000 versus the board’s 3 4 million.
