County Sugar Quota To Be Reviewed
In a letter to Frank J. Sizemore Representative Carl T. Durham said the CPA order cutting Guilford county basic sugar allotment for industrial users by 15 percent cannot be rescinded but may be increased after a re survey if population rises. The chamber of commerce urged reversal noting veterans and war workers returning offset declines. Officials said the cut stems from population shifts and ORD disbandment in Greensboro and other factors. Durham noted the order took effect March 10 but a quota restoration could follow a population re survey. chamber officials estimate a 25 percent county population rise.
