Guilford County approves new industrial zoning near road lanes
The Guilford County Board of Commissioners approved a new industrial zoning plan after a lengthy debate over setback requirements. They set 100 foot setbacks from interstates and 100 foot side yards, 100 foot rear yard, replacing a suggested 200 foot standard. Planning Director Lindsay Cox urged a third industrial district along arterial roads to keep manufacturing inside buildings and storage at the rear with screening. John Carroll praised the zone as a real improvement over M-2 and noted water and sewer lines will extend into the area along I-40.
