High Rock Residents Propose Action on Lake Pollution
High Rock Lake Association residents protest pollution and seek action from state and federal authorities. The group sent a resolution to Gov. Jim Holshouser, NC congressional delegation, EPA, and NC Dept. of Natural and Economic Resources. The document cites a 1974 report showing water standards repeatedly violated and health hazards from pollutants, including bacteria in the Yadkin River. Association president Joe Freeman says the group represents thousands of lake shore residents.
