Randolph counties pursued one cent sales tax push

Asheboro and Randolph County municipalities planned to press the county commissioners to approve a one cent sales tax while facing a $1.85 million water and sewer bond drive to extend lines to Purgatory Mountain. The Thursday meeting was canceled for attendance issues and timing concerns, with a May 6 zoo bond vote shaping the plan. Chairman William Farlow and Commissioner Floyd Langley voiced skepticism, noting tax impacts on low income residents and preference for tax shifts over higher property taxes.
