Gas Chamber Executes Harnett Farmer for Wife’s Death
Raleigh March 18 UP A 42 year old Harnett county farmer Emmett Garner was executed today for beating his wife to death Mrs Bessie Garner. Convicted in 1947 he was led to the gas chamber at 10 am with Chaplain William H R Jackson and Warden Hugh H Wilson and pronounced dead 14 minutes later. Governor Scott refused clemency.
