Moore accuses Sanford of stealing his Peace Corps idea

Extradition Refused Keeps Cauthen Free in Washington

Charles Will Cauthen, sentenced to death in Georgia for a Griffin murder, is not extradited after Washington Gov. Rosellini refused the request. Cauthen, who escaped in 1959, returned to Ward en and receives support from local residents as he resumes life under his assumed name Bob Williams. The decision ends Georgia’s pursuit and keeps him in Washington pending further action.

Governor forms 1000 member panel to curb Piedmont Crescent blight

Cigarette Warning Urged by Health Group

Washington AP The American Cancer Society urged that cigarettes and ads carry a health warning. Dr W G Scott told the FTC that education cannot work if advertising continues unimpeded. Gilbert Weil questioned FTC authority, while Dixon defended the agency. Scott noted youth smoking worsens risks after the surgeon general linked cigarettes to lung cancer.
