Lawrence E Watt of Reidsville and Joe J Harris of Winston-Salem filed late for the seat held by Rep John H Folger who may withdraw if others run. Folger paid his fee but may seek ballot omission. Thurmond Chatham Winston-Salem and John Taylor Danbury also are candidates along with S Evan Hall of Winston-Salem. Other districts see contests in the sixth eighth and tenth with Durham Rives Scarborough filing and Republicans McDonald Newton joined by Joseph H Reece. E H McCorkle filed in the tenth. P C Derion faces Democrat Ad in Charlotte.
