Guilford County Considers Bond Referendum Plan

Guilford County commissioners meet March 31 to adopt resolutions for a June 8 bond referendum. The plan proposes 35.8 million in bonds mainly for educational buildings across three school systems and GTI, plus 3 million for a new Greensboro jail, 8 million sewer and 2 million water line upgrades, and 1.2 million for solid waste disposal. The program would also allocate 12.5 million over five years from tax income for schools, with GTI aided by 1.2 million from federal and state sources. A sales tax increase is not yet decided, but could reduce bond needs and loan costs.
