Miss Joanne Burke was feted at a floating bridal shower hosted by Mrs. David Hayworth and Jan Hayworth at the Hayworth home on 1900 E Russell Ave. Friday evening. Hostesses greeted her with a white carnation corsage upon arrival.
Approximately 35 guests enjoyed punch cheese rings nuts mints and cake squares as Mrs Agrela Frith served the punch. Miss Burke set to marry James Frith March 24 and numerous 6 30 p m club meetings and 7 30 p m events fill the social agenda at venues across High Point including the Sheraton Andrews Village Red Cross Emerywood Baptist and YWCA venues with various hostesses and honorees.
The Furniture Capital Chapter of ABWA hosted a Hand of Friendship tea at Emerywood Country Club Sunday evening. President Mrs. C. M. Venable welcomed guests, announced Mrs. C. H. Peace as Woman of the Year, and eight new members were enrolled.
The Midweek Study Club will meet on Wednesday at 3 PM at 523 Bridges St the home of Mrs C A McMurray. The gathering aims to discuss its current topics and plan upcoming activities.
Frank Wyatt spoke on The Trial of Christ at the Trindale Woman's Club. He outlined 13 errors in the trial, compared ancient and modern judiciary, and set the 2 a.m. Friday start on April 7 for a seven hour session. The meeting included guests and a talent contestant from Trinity High School.
