Guilford County Votes On Bond Plan For Schools
Greensboro Guilford County residents may vote June 8 on a six issue bond package totaling 35.8 million dollars to fund new school buildings. Plan includes 22.6 million in bonds with 12.5 million county funds and 1.2 million federal for construction, plus 4 million for GTI, and 3 million for a jail, 1.2 million for solid waste, 3 million for sewer lines, and 2 million for water lines. Sparks Blamed For Blaze At Adams Wood Turning Co
Fire officials attributed the Thursday blaze at 216 Woodbine St to ignition of flammable residue on the roof from sparks from a smokestack. The finishing department and offices were destroyed, with walls left standing and the boiler room and sawdust pipes fueling the fire. Sprinkler malfunction and a separating wall limited damage to the frame department. most machinery remained in the undamaged area and a few business records were saved.
