Older Workers Hirable Says ESC Specialist
Marie Cumby of the High Point Employment Security Commission notes National Older Worker Week starting March 13. She says skilled older workers have good employ ment chances in furniture, mechanics, plumbing, guards, and grounds keeping in the High Point area. From Oct 1976 to Feb this year 918 applications were filed by 45+ workers with 105 jobs gained. February saw 95 applications and 17 placements. The ESC and a local American Legion post will honor employers showing interest in older workers. Nationally older workers constitute about 40 percent of the workforce with fewer work days lost and greater stability than younger workers.

Guilford County employees Jean Pendleton and Charles Whedbee used volunteer first aid training to revive a nonbreathing, pulseless man inside the courthouse.
