Girl Scout Week Opens With Curved Bar Awards
In Savannah on March 12 1912 Juliette Gordon Low gathered a dozen girls forming the first troop. Forty nine years later 2 650 000 girls from ages 7 to 17 nationwide observe the anniversary through March 18 1961 with a week of activities and curved bar awards to Alice Nicholson and Sharon Lemmons of troop 79 Thomasville.
