Vera Neumann's China scarves mark 30th anniversary coup
New York designer Vera Neumann celebrates three decades by launching eight scarves manufactured in China on Chinese silk. A National Council for United States China Trade rep calls it the first US designs produced in the PRC for sale here. The venture began after Vera and VP Marvin Pelter secured a China visit in 1974, revealing printing plant methods and impactful Chinese art influences across plum blossoms, horses, calligraphy, and abstracts.
