Washington AP reports middle to upper middle income taxpayers may see smaller pay increases than expected as Uncle Sam withholds less but tax liability rises. Many refunds shrink or vanish, and some owe hundreds more at tax time. The under withholding stems from rapid rate changes, with guidance to adjust withholding to avoid surprises next year.
North Carolina will likely wait until next year for a decision on adding interstate miles. The Bureau of Public Roads will review clearer estimates as two spur lines in Charlotte, Asheville, and Greensboro are studied to connect Raleigh and Durham with Fort Bragg and nearby routes.
