Pravda denounces Churchill's fish American military alliance as a step to liquidate the United Nations and end the three power coalition. It blasts Churchill's democracy rhetoric and claims he seeks a British American world rule behind the UNO.
Washington March 11. Government officials said the United States declined to join France in presenting the Franco regime case against Spain to the United Nations Security Council. The U S position holds that Franco’s regime is not a threat to international peace and thus will not be brought before the council. Britain declined to join, while Russia accepted the French view.
In Switzerland the state built a two month stockpile before the war and froze non perishable sales to implement rationing. Private banker Arnold Muggli spearheaded a moral, collective system that kept starvation at bay and demonstrated national foresight and teamwork amid looming global conflict.
British Indian troops began boarding ships at Batavia as part of a staged withdrawal from the Netherlands East Indies. Dutch troops from Malaya had arrived to replace them, while fighting persisted with Indonesian forces near Buitenzorg and Bandoeng, marking renewed combat and British air activity.
Winston Churchill arranged a conference with President Truman at the White House on an unannounced subject. He will depart Washington for New York for 94 days en route to England, their first meeting since travels to Fulton Missouri and Columbus Ohio last week.

Edwin W. Pauley’s nomination for under secretary of the navy appears withdrawn this week. A Senate Naval Committee member, speaking off the record, said the withdrawal plan is back on track. Senator Tydings, a Pauley supporter, announced he will deliver a comprehensive report on the subject in a radio broadcast next Sunday as hearings resume Tuesday afternoon.
