South to defend against a coming tax clash and social changes
A late 19th century newspaper summary notes diverse items from Governor Taylor’s pardon plans for young penitentiary inmates to the New York suffrage defeat. It reports on Indianola Texas abandonment after cyclone flood and fire, and discusses Supreme Court rulings on drummer taxes, milch cattle in the South, and a poisoning scare in St. Louis.
