High Point Mayor Stanton Named for County Highway Board
Mayor D A Stanton of High Point is expected to replace J Elwood Cox on the county highway commission as Cox resigns to join the state highway board. Stanton, a physician and banker, has long pushed roads improvement and may not seek re election as mayor. The move follows county officials backing a $2,000,000 road bond program and suggests a High Point successor will be chosen from the central township. Cox has not yet been officially informed of his state appointment but will resign to serve the country and section.
