North Carolina school funds trimmed again in 1930s drive
The joint appropriations committees propose 20.4 million dollars for the first year and 20.8 million for the second year for public schools, aiming to fund a 26 percent teacher salary rise and 10 to 15 percent to principals and superintendents. The plan arcs against a 22 million annual goal, with three revenue paths under consideration including sales tax tweaks, highway fund transfers, or liquor sales legislation to bolster funds.
