Tax Foreclosure Fees Not Fixed in State Law
Raleigh March 8 The executive secretary of the County Government Advisory Commission says many believe state law fixes attorney fees in tax foreclosure cases. He notes county commissioners set the county attorney’s compensation, and judges fix fees only when suits go to court. Most suits settle before service, so commissioners should prearrange a fee for preparation, not trial.
