Auction Expected For Government Seized Spirit In Greensboro
Deputy Revenue Officer George P. Crutchfield seized a steel drum containing about 40 gallons of spirituous liquor from the Southern Railway freight shed. Evaporation reduced the contents to five gallons, prompting a public auction planned for March 20 at the Greensboro revenue office with a $1.10 per gallon license tax and the government likely to sell to the highest bidder.
