Henry E Fries Dies at 91 in Winston-Salem Office
Henry E Fries 91, president of the Winston-Salem Southbound Railway, died at his desk at 9:20 a m. He led the line for more than 42 years after taking charge in 1907 and helped build the Piedmont North Carolina Rail route. He aided Fries Manufacturing and Power Co which developed long distance electrical lines in North Carolina. The company later sold assets in 1913. His wife died in 1938 and his sole child, a daughter, died in 1916, leaving no close survivors.
