Miracle Gas Tourists Hail Florida Visit Amid Rationing Woes

Miami reports a growing tourist season as warm sunshine fails to soften farewells with visiting motorists labeled miracle motorists for stretching gasoline. Death sentences passed on four at Algiers

The French concentration camp torture trial ended with death sentences for four defendants. Two others received life penal servitude, two got 10 years, and two 20 years. One was acquitted. The eleven faced charges of murder cruelty or complicity in crimes at a Vichy camp for foreign legion men and gas guards. Unmarried Mother Seeks Soldier Father For Quad Death

Norah Carpenter in Heanor Derbyshire reports the death of MacDonald, the youngest of her quadruplets born Monday, and asks that the soldier father Staff Sgt. William Thompson be notified. Thompson, visiting on leave from Pittsburgh, had discussed marriage and family with Norah, who says she wishes to marry him if possible. The other three babies were reported well.

Roosevelt Discusses Italian Fleet Transfer to Russia

President Roosevelt said talks are about halfway complete on transferring roughly one third of Italy s surrendered fleet to Russia. He noted Edward R. Stettinius will travel to London to discuss with Britain many questions.
