The new Ray Street School in High Point debuts Monday with 400 students enrolled. Principal Mrs Ranson leads a two story red brick building featuring a 1000 seat auditorium, gym, lunch room, hospital clinic, library, and dedicated towers for boys and girls.
The Senate approved the solicitor's salary bill with amendments raising pay to 4750 and including a 750 expense allowance, aligning with the house bill. The measure moves to the house for concurrence. one senator voted against, seeking 5000 with 1000 expense, an amendment rejected.
W T Kennedy of this city is named federal prohibition enforcement officer for Guilford county. Headquarters are expected in High Point under internal revenue commissioner Dr H Blair and under state director A B Coltrane. Kennedy previously ran for Guilford sheriff on the Republican ticket.
Antonio Musci reported being flogged by masked men five miles from the city on December 6. He awoke to find a coffin on his front porch with a note reading You are next and sought sheriff protection.
Reading Pa March 3 Stephen J Bloch a well known acrobatic clown and member of the original Four Lukens in their aerial act died of pneumonia after three days illness. He later performed with Barnum Bailey and Ringling Bros circuses.
Washington March 3 The contested nomination of James G McNary of New Mexico to the Comptroller of Currency was reported favorably by the Senate Banking Committee. Final vote figures were delayed but early tabulations showed McNary ahead. Opponents predicted confirmation would fail with Congress adjournment. a recess appointment by President Harding was expected.
Mr and Mrs R Lt Loflin travel from High Point on January 8 to Florida and back in a self built motor bungalow. They visit Columbia D C Augusta Ga Jacksonville Tampa St Augustine and Orlando enjoying comfortable travel and no notable trouble.
Ambassador George Harvey urged God to bless the Prince of Wales at a dinner honoring the heir to the British throne. He praised the prince's character and noted American admiration since his U.S. visit, calling for a sense of proprietorship among Americans.
Salisbury March 3 Fire of undetermined origin near 2 pm destroyed the city stables east of the passenger station. A large quantity of foodstuffs and eight city owned mules were lost, three bought in the prior days.

He urged active living over negation, citing Christ ideals of service and love your neighbor, warning against salt losing savour. Magistrate Levine admonished John Brennan after tenants testified he had peered into windows rummaged through apartments and searched packages for contraband. Brennan was told to go home and end such behavior noting not everyone in New York is a bootlegger.
Three armed bandits robbed a De Lancey Street jewelers store in Manhattan’s lower East Side, binding Max Some and escaping with about $66,000 in gems. They rifled a safe containing $50,000 in jewels and then seized $16,000 in unset gems from Charles Landau who walked in during the escape.
Washington March 3 Senator Glass of Virginia who was nominated and confirmed yesterday as one of three Democratic members of the world war debt funding commission declined appointment today.
Congress was expected to adjourn by Sunday noon with many bills to come up. A legislative pause follows a busy week of committee work and floor action as leaders prepare for final votes on a broad passenger and appropriations agenda.

Prince Holbhings received sixty days on county roads for larceny. Burrus White found not guilty of operating a vehicle under liquor but fined 50 dollars for reckless driving causing car damage. J. P. Rawley found not guilty of assault.

Local auxiliary members hosted prominent women from across North Carolina for an evening session at Mrs. Forrest Murray’s home. National officer Mrs. KE Burt could not attend due to illness. Speakers included Mrs. James K. Norfleet and Mrs. Wister Browning. A 6 o'clock dinner at the Sheraton preceded the event.
Chicago March 3 a grand jury investigation of Chicago city hall was authorized by Judge M E McKinley expanding the panel that had probed the school board. The term boss Fred Ludin and others were among those indicted in the prior probe.
