At Woman's College Greensboro March 1 4 the two day convention of the Distribtive Education Clubs of North Carolina closed Harrill Jones of Gastonia named president by about 200 delegates from 22 Tar Heel high schools attending.
Guthrie Walters reports another Ku Klux Klan member renounced his robe and hood today in Robeson County. The ex member said he had paid his initiation fee and left the Klan after charges were dropped against Malcolm B. Seawell tied to the roundup of 16 alleged Klansmen this week.
Asheville voters endorse two district delegates to the national convention. Halsey Leavitt backs Taft while R. M. Tiger from Hayesville favors Eisenhower, reflecting a split in the Buncombe County Republican lineup.
Wake County grand jury opens Monday to consider bills of indictment charging three Wake Forest men with the December 23 murder of Luna Beddingfield a 45 year old mother of seven and wife of a cotton mill worker all residents near Wake Forest.
