DiSalle Announces New Action On Used Car Ceilings
Price Director Michael V. DiSalle said the latest move to raise ceilings on new autos may push retail car prices up about 20 percent as used car ceilings likely will not rise. He testified to the Senate House defense watchdog panel that the plan allows quality differences but departments see no new used car ceiling increases. DiSalle also denied jobs for sale in Mississippi OPS posts, defending staff merit and noting few changes in cotton price controls while delaying a uniform baled cotton ceiling order. The story notes further OPS staffing and continued discussions with the Agriculture Department.

RFC Directors Accused in Lustron Financing Probe
Fruehauf testifies that James H. Rosenbaum named two RFC directors as being in his hip pocket Walter Dunham and William Willett. He says Dunham blocked Lustron rescue and that RFC pressed to replace Strandlund with management ally Rex Jacobs, amid loans totaling 37.5 million dollars. The inquiry also touches on checks cashed by Strandlund for McCarthy at Pimlico and Lorel tracks and the broader charge of an influence ring within RFC.
