Council Opposes Pool Fee Hike
Enterprise City Editor Forrest Cates reports the City Council opposed raising the High Point City Lake pool entrance from 25 cents to 1 dollar for children. Council members raised concerns about fishing fees and other proposed increases, noting operating costs have risen while patronage stayed steady. The council forwarded the Parks and Recreation Commission proposal to the finance committee and prepared Thursday’s agenda for possible ordinance amendments on fire department authority and railroad crossing signals.

News Stand in Davidson County Gutted by Fire
A news stand near Willard's Curb Market in Thomasville was gutted by flames in Davidson County last Sunday. Sheriff deputies said arson is strongly suspected after a prior third attempt on the site. The owner, a Kernersville man, had opened the stand only the prior Friday. Charred betting cards and punch boards were removed from a room, and the sheriff noted history of wheelings and dealing with prior raids at the site.
