Manchester Plan Introduces Progressive Patient Care Model

The Manchester Memorial Hospital in Connecticut tests a progressive care system that segments patients by need. From intensive care for the seriously ill to self help zones for recovering patients, daily rates drop from about 20 25 dollars to 8 12 dollars as care intensity decreases. The plan, led by Edward Thoms and colleagues, aims to cut costs while improving tailored medical attention and could reshape hospital design and funding.
