Raleigh June 29 The state board of elections convened to canvass second primary votes in the fifth and sixth districts. It planned to receive reports of alleged irregularities in the fifth district and a charge of excessive expenditures in the tenth district. Chairman W T Joyner said he would present his formal findings on the fifth district first primary and the board would hear further charges from that district in the run off.
British forces raid Jewish Agency offices in Palestine and arrest many leaders while searching Tel Aviv and eight communities. Sir Alan Cunningham declares measures aim to root out violence and protect government. operations continue despite kidnappings and recent court sentences of Irgun Zvai Leumi members.

In port Wellers Ontario five men and a woman were believed drowned when the tug Dalhousie Rover struck a spar and overturned. Five crew were rescued, two after about ten minutes, as the 78 foot vessel tied at the drydock mouth for engine repairs.
