Unusual Folk Art Exhibit Opens in Washington
A 30 by 16 foot gallery displays James Hampton’s Throne of the Third Heaven of the Nations' Millennium General Assembly at the National Collection of Fine Arts. Hampton, a black General Services Administration laborer, toiled 14 years in a slum warehouse to create the piece before his 1964 death.
