Reward Offered For Campus Communist Probe
The Chapel Hill Weekly offered a $100 reward to anyone who can prove there is a Communist on the University of North Carolina campus. Editor James Shumaker said the reward tests the rumor mill and the charges against faculty and left wing groups. Publisher Orville Campbell aims to learn what is going on by talking to any identified Communist. Names of accusers and accused will be kept confidential to avoid libel concerns.
