Planing mill death of Vester Davis in High Point
Vester Davis aged 35 died in a local hospital from injuries at the Arthur Brown planing mill. He recently moved from Denton to High Point and had been in critical condition since Friday after a pulley shattered his backbone. Survived by widow and daughter, his parents Mr. and Mrs B C Davis of Denton, four brothers W R Davis Zeb Harvin of Denton, and two sisters Mrs Grader Smith of High Rock and Mrs Edna Bean of Denton. Funeral arrangements pending.

Accidental pistol firing injures Lawrence Paschal
Slightly injured Lawrence Paschal was tinkering with a pistol when it fired this morning. Flo, in the Victor Electric Shoe Shop, was examining a pistol belonging to the shop owner awaiting repairs. The hand injury is reported as very slight.

New York Electrical Storm Kills Three and Hurts Dozens
An electrical storm swept across New York metropolitan area killing Bert Savoy and Jack Crossman vaudeville performers and a Brooklyn woman plus an 18 year old Yonkers youth. The storm uprooted trees toppled telegraph poles and damaged roofs across Brooklyn Long Island and parts of Manhattan. Several other performers were knocked down and two others were injured when a brick wall collapsed on an automobile. A sailboat capsized on the Hudson with Stephen Shemvin an 18 year old Yonkers High School student who drowned.

Harvey Rice, charged with manslaughter in the automobile accident near High Point that killed Richard Emmerson and seriously injured Denver Smith, will be tried tonight before Magistrate W. G. Brown. Rice, who was speeding and had whisky in his car, was released on $5,000 bond and is defended by Royal York and Gold. T. W. Albertson will prosecute.

Will Be Buried In Randleman This Afternoon
Mrs. Lara Walton died yesterday about 4 o clock at her sister's home from dropsy. Aged 34 she moved to High Point six weeks ago from Randleman. Surviving: daughter Mary, father S. W. Walton, sister Mrs. A Gausey, brother C S Walton, all of this city. Funeral today at 11 from the home, then to Randleman for interment in St Pauls Cemetery.

Calcutta Orphanage Collapse Kills Dozens
In Calcutta yesterday a section of an orphanage building collapsed burying about a hundred Mohammedan children aged 3 to 18. Thirty nine boys died and 229 inmates slept in dormitories when the two story structure collapsed. Thirty three were injured and 25 slightly hurt. The building had recently added a second story.
