Budget Approved Legislature To End Session Today
The 1975 North Carolina General Assembly advanced a $6.6 billion two year budget with about 288 million in cuts, leaving out a general pay hike for teachers and state workers. House and Senate actions also exempted many counties from group home and building inspector measures and moved to restructure the Department of Administration. A new law ends free rides for some motorists by limiting prayer for judgment continued PJCs to three or more in five years, and the House killed a bill to block sale of Chapel Hill electric to Duke Power despite a Duke bid.
