New York AP reports summer began with robust auto production and a slide in steel output. Automakers produced about 140000 cars this week, 15 percent higher than last year, with Ford contributing to much of the gain as compact cars reached a new 31 percent share. Steel tonnage fell to 1739000, with executives expecting rates near 50 percent in July. Father’s Day shopping boosted retail trade by up to four percent year over year. Bay leaf, grown in Mediterranean regions, is used in soups fish and meat, and its extract serves as a hair tonic.
