Jesse C. Walker of Columbus county, convicted of murder in Pender county 21 years ago, was paroled by Governor Ehringhaus. Though pardoned in North Carolina, Oklahoma still has 25 years to serve on his manslaughter sentence, and authorities hope for a future Oklahoma parole. Walker, 62, spent 16 years as a fugitive under the name Frank Manning in Mississippi before returning to the Raleigh prison to finish his debt to society.
