Union leaders announce they will heed the shop workers strike vote and back the ballot result. The railway labor board's decisions on contract cases and piece work shape the dispute as talks stall.
Wayne Wheeler of the Anti-Saloon League declared that labor demands for beer and light wines are unfounded. He cited Pennsylvania's May 16 test, noting beer and wine supporters spent 75 thousand dollars to defeat Rep. Kelly, while prohibition gained broad political backing and crime, poverty, and drinking trends improved under enforcement.
London dispatch reports Holland fears the former Kaiser might flee Doorn for Germany if uprising follows Rathenau death. Dutch official says no evidence of such intent and surveillance around Doorn is tight enough to prevent any escape.
June 26 Mexico City The U S Bureau of Investigation chief Bruce Bielaski was kidnapped for ransom by seven bandits who stopped his auto seven miles west of Cuernavaca Morelos He and Manuel Barena were seized after robbing Bielaski's wife and Barena’s wife were released The War Secretary ordered federal troops to pursue the bandits.
London June 26 Winston Churchill secretary for the colonies rose to state in the house of commons that the government seeks the freest debate to be closed by a division. He blamed Belfast horrors on the northern organization of two IRA divisions and the southern partisans efforts to break the Ulster government and bow Ulster to Dublin.
Berlin police announced eleven men, alleged members of a barbarian sport group called the council, were arrested. They are suspected of involvement in the murder of former Finance Minister Erzberger and believed to be linked to the recent killing of Foreign Minister Rathenau last week.
A party of 105 publishers railway officials and invited citizens from across the south met in Asheville for the initial trip over the Mount Mitchell road to the summit the highest peak east of the Rockies. The 22 mile cinder road starts at Black Mountain and averages a grade of 3 percent. The highway cost 150000 dollars to build.

In municipal court Saturday C J Doty was found guilty of an assault with a deadly weapon and a $50 fine plus costs were imposed by Judge Walter Royal. Doty filed notice of appeal with a $100 bond set. T G Hampton was found guilty of breach of the peace and taxed with costs.
June 26 Ralph Icard 17 wandered into deep water in the Catawba River five miles above Rhode Hill and drowned. He was the son of Robert Icard.
Mrs. Oscar A. Hirsch remains in bond as police arraign her for shooting her husband at a party in Freeport New York. Bail of 25 000 was continued. Prosecutors say a first degree assault conviction could bring five to ten years. The motive remains unclear amid threats cited by magistrate Douras.
Northside High Point youths form two teams, the Northside Giants and Southside Winners, meeting in a morning doubleheader. In the first inning the Northside Giants won 10 to 4 with Overman and W Cope land behind the plate, while Chernault and W Copeland aided the Southside effort.
Hartwell J. Withers of Kalispell Montana, already a first sergeant of marines, was admitted as a midshipman at the Naval Academy in Annapolis on Friday. He is nearly 19 years old and was designated to the academy by the secretary of the navy as part of the enlist ranks quota. Twenty six of the required hundred from enlisted ranks have qualified so far with more expected to join the class.
Eighteen players from the Portsmouth and Newport News teams in the Virginia league plus Umpire Breslin were fined $10 each in Portsmouth police court for playing Sunday baseball. Fines reduced to $5 after agreeing not to repeat the offense.
Chicago June 26 A strike vote is being taken by railway signalmen in about one third of the country, announced by B W Helt, president of the Brotherhood of Railway Signalmen. The vote is supervised by system general committees, all of which have rejected the wage cut slated for July 1.

Seven people were injured when an auto carrying them rolled over at the South Main and Mallory streets intersection yesterday around 2 PM. The crash followed a tire coming off. Clyde Wooley was the driver with only minor bruises. Dewey McNeil and Baxter McNeil were among the more seriously hurt.

June 26 at Deep Run county a West Construction Co truck driven by Hirjah Dunn ran off the road and struck a horse drawn cart in a farmer Tom Hill yard. James Hill age 12 died, Mrs Julia Ann Smith and a one year old infant were injured. Dunn surrendered to police asking protection pending inquiry. Police say steering gear broke but reports say he was drinking and speeding.
New York June 26 There was a further decline of 8 to 28 points as selling renewed amid favorable weather in the south and lower Liver pool cables. October futures fell to 21.17 before a modest rally to 21.23, yet liquidation kept the market barely steady. July to December futures opened lower across the board with July at 21.20 and December at 21.97.

The Burlington bank will operate as Atlantic Bank and Trust with Alamance officers and Alamance county citizens on the board. A directors and stockholders meeting of Atlantic Bank and Trust will be held soon.
Thomas Hasselgrove a cigar manufacturer was kidnapped near here by four men who bound him to a tree beat him with a stick tarred and feathered him then released him with an order to leave town within fifty hours. The county authorities investigate as Hasselgrove recounts a vote on whether to kill him or tar and feather him.
