Freight car tragedy claims two riders in Salisbury
In Salisbury on June 23 J. W. L. Spangler, 45, of Big Stone Gap Virginia, was fatally injured after his head struck an overhead bridge while riding a freight car on the Western railroad. In his fall he struck a nearby negro man who clung to the car. the man sustained minor injuries. The deceased was identified by papers found on him and his wife was notified. Instructions were given to ship the body to his home address.
