Watauga County superintendent Dr. F L Barker Jr faces nine felony counts for alleged misuse of state funds. Indictment cites forging a motor company president’s signature on a $700 check and a fraudulent auto lease, plus unauthorized school credit card use for personal trips to Atlanta Myrtle Beach Greensboro and Winston-Salem. Barker, suspended in June, has served four years earning $29 000 annually. his brother Delano Barker also named in the indictment.
