About 40 000 protesters gathered around the Parliament in Tokyo then dispersed as leftists failed to meet a predicted 100 000 turnout. They demanded PM Kishi resign and dissolve Parliament. the cabinet approved the pact and imperial seal was affixed as ratifications neared transfer.
United Nations report indicates efforts to arrange a meeting between Argentine President Frondizi and Israeli Prime Minister Ben-Gurion over Adolf Eichmann have failed. Argentina will push UN debate on transferring Eichmann from Argentina to Israel and seeks reparations if needed.
The Senate appeared set to overwhelmingly approve a new 10 year security pact between the United States and Japan with a vote expected after extended debate. Leaders projected 8 to 12 possible opposing votes though a two thirds majority was required for ratification.
