Problems Hit Lemke Union Party Campaign
Philadelphia June 22 Rep William Lemke of Dakota faces a string of problems in his Union party campaign for the presidency. Leaders say he is likely to lose ground due to laws barring a new party late in the race and possible efforts by Democrats to crowd out his bid. Wisconsin Farmer Labor Federation debated backing the Union ticket while other groups weighed their stance. Dr Frank E Townsend planned a conference to discuss support while Rev Gerald L K Smith offered aid to back planks tied to Coughlin style policy and old age security.
