North Carolina Democrats at the biennial convention praise Gov Ehringhaus and Cameron Morrison for guiding the state through hard times. Morrison lauds Roosevelt and Ehringhaus, stresses fiscal integrity and school funding while noting tax changes and increased teacher salaries funded by a $16 million state appropriation.
Receivers for the Seaboard Air Line railroad announced an order for 1000 freight cars to be split 500 for the Richmond plant and 500 for the Birmingham plant from Standard Steel Car Co. The cost was not revealed, but the total likely reaches $200,000.
In Kirbyville Texas on June 21 a mob of about two hundred white men seized Lon Griggs a 30 year old Black man after he was seen with a 17 year old white girl. Officers transporting him to Orange were halted the mob dragged him away hanged him and fired seventeen shots. The body was dumped near a box factory commissary after being dragged behind a car. Both victims had been jailed and the sheriff moved to Orange as the mob formed near the jail.
North Carolina sees fair tonight and Friday morning with afternoon thunderstorms in western and northern areas and cooler exposed pockets Friday. South Carolina remains fair tonight and Friday with isolated Friday afternoon thundershowers in the extreme northwest. Winds vary from gentle to moderate, shifting directions through Friday.
Ben R. Lowe, newly convicted of seven auto theft counts, allegedly told highway patrol officers he conspired with B. G. and Lester Green in a Denton bank robbery over two years ago. He claimed four High Point youths now serving 15 year terms are innocent, urging prosecutors to clear them. The confession mentions an elderly doctor near Martinsville and a wound treatment before the robbery date.
In Waverly Hills California on June 20 a gang used a truck with a winch to back up to a bank to kidnap the safe. The crowd gathered to watch the stunt as the robbers claimed they would return with a smaller safe and charge admission to future robberies.
The Sixth District Democratic convention adopted a resolution urging the state convention to memorialize the U S Senate to oppose Frank R. McNinch as chairman of the federal power commission. The measure cites McNinch's alleged party violations and his Hoover-era ties, while praising Roosevelt's leadership.

Richard T. Steel, 74, a former Bank of ee cashier near Laurinburg, died today. He is survived by a son and a daughter. Funeral services will be held tomorrow.
Washington June 21 The steel industry moves today to avert a strike as management faces union demands. Donald Richberg NRA general counsel said no reason why a satisfactory adjustment can't be made while Secretary Perkins Roosevelt's agent noted no comment from the union on proposals. The Amalgamated Association of Iron and Tin Workers threatened to call a strike if recognition bargaining resumes, with a neutral board urged to supervise any vote on steelworkers' status.
Missing Miss Agnes Turverson becomes focus of a metro area inquiry. Police search cemeteries and seaborne trunks for clues while Captain Ivan Poderjay and associates face scrutiny.
High Point prepares for the 1934 Greater Trade Days with extended store hours Friday and Saturday to attract shoppers. A Y M C A bicycle race and parade is set for Saturday at Main Street with a large anticipated turnout. Bill Davis and His Cotton Blossoms will provide music from WRT Charlotte as police ease parking. A Guilford grand jury returned a bill of indictment against Sam Bost for first degree murder after he allegedly shot Jim Carter in his home over a 20 cent gambling bet. Carter was linked to a prior shooting of Patrolman F G Claywell in a nine year old gambling raid. The term's 55 true bills were reported to Judge Clement as the term ends June 30 in Greensboro.
The War Department announced 10 Martin bombers will conduct a training and photographic flight from Washington to Kairsanks Alaska and back, via Canadian cities, during the first two weeks of July.
