Workshop Receives HEW Grant
The High Point Sheltered Workshop won a 35983 grant from the Department of Health Education and Welfare to fund staffing. Foreman Edward Thorburn says the funds will hire higher quality and more staff as the workshop has long been short staffed. The three year old non profit, run by Guilford County mental retardation, trains mentally retarded and handicapped workers for placement in local industries, with 30 placements over its history and 12 placements in the past year.
