New Finance Plan Approved for Western NC Methodists
The Western North Carolina Methodist Conference approved a new 100 percent basis for its World Service and Conference benevolences at the June 1964 Lake Junaluska meeting. It replaces the previous pastor salary based method, allowing churches to pay monthly checks to the conference treasurer and allocate funds by percentage to causes. Three fourths of the appropriations are based on church giving, with the remainder from membership. The plan, praised by the commission and cited by Rev. Robert H. Stamey and secretary Fred D. Russell, aims to reduce penalties from pastor salary increases and streamline funding across 1,150 congregations.

Temple Built by Solomon and its solemn dedication
The Temple’s construction centralized Israelite worship, aided by King Solomon and Hiram of Tyre after David’s prevented plan. It required 180000 workers over seven years with lavish gold carvings, and its dedication featured Solomon’s prayer. God warned that faithfulness would sustain David’s house, while disobedience would bring destruction and exile.

Democracy and education versus personal security critique
The text critiques how democracy and education drift into narrow measures and institutional fixes. It warns religion and marriage becoming rigid symbols while professions turn into jobs.
