Brakes Fail On Freight Train In Macon
Engineer Fred Bryant of Macon said his 130 year Central of Georgia freight train left the tracks while descending a grade at about 50 mph with five engines and 15 to 20 cars. The fireman Will Evans also from Macon suffered shoulder and side injuries as rescuers pried Bryant free from the controls. The wreck caused extensive railroad damage and disrupted traffic on several Macon streets.
