Five Arrested In Textile Mill Riot
Lawrence, June 17 five arrests were made in what authorities called the most serious demonstration since the textile mill strike began. City Marshal Timothy O'Brien and officers were stoned by a large crowd outside the Pacific Print Works as strikers attempted to block entry of operatives. About 600 strikers participated in the riot the first real outbreak of the strike. The demonstrators planned further action for the following night.
Langley Field Hangars To Cost Half Million
Norfolk Va June 17 Two immense solid steel hangars 110 by 200 feet to replace the wooden structure destroyed by fire and a large hollow tile labor machine shop 66 by 140 feet are planned at Langley field. Bids for the buildings are to be opened at Fort Monroe June 20. The shop will be built near the big balloon hangar at the dirigible plant to support lighter-than-air work. The trio of structures will likely cost about a half million dollars.
