Lindbergh arrived at Mitchel Field and rode through a crowd of thousands to City Hall after a triumphant Broadway procession. The huge greeting featured a river of cheers, paper snow from skyscraper windows, and a civic welcome from New York’s residents.
In Louisville Mississippi on June 13 Jim and Mark Fox were seized by a mob of about 1000 after a confrontation with Clarence Nichols’s party near Noxapater. The pair were burned at the stake while officers were overpowered. Nichols, his brother J B Nichols, and others were involved, Nichols was fatally struck and carried for burial to Conehatta Mississippi. Officials report quiet resumes in Louisville.
Graham County officials report the Conner and Sons payroll of 6500 was seized Saturday on a Yellow Creek mountain trail. Two men, possibly local youths, used a mountain ambush to seize the satchel containing payroll envelopes.
Mayor Walker presented a scroll of honored welcome to Captain Charles A. Lindbergh upon his return to New York from Paris. He landed at 1:20 p m aboard the Macom and drew vast crowds and roaring cheers along the Battery waterfront.

Franklin reports Demorest Hunnicutt of Tallulah Falls Ga died in a Gainesville Ga hospital after an argument with Ed Woodall who is jailed in Clayton Ga. Relatives received word of the death today.
The German foreign office informed diplomatic representatives of Britain France Italy and Belgium that the destruction of eastern German fortifications is complete under the Paris January 31 agreement.
Newport News June 13 two army fliers were killed in a head on collision between two planes at Langley Field during maneuvers. The fliers were killed about noon and have not yet been identified.
North Carolina output rose over 60 percent from 185 960 bushels to 300 390 bushels in 1926-27, per Fisheries Commissioner Captain J A Nelson. Officials credit market rebuilding and improved health inspections for restored confidence after 1924 propaganda and typhoid fears. Escallops production jumped to 43 974 gallons from 1 500, while dam output slipped to 27 266 bushels from 30 357.
Tokyo dispatch reports Japan’s Geneva naval conference delegation will push for an equal ratio with a maximum limit on auxiliary ships. Japan argues its greater need to defend trade routes justifies more cruisers, but will claim liberty to build equal to Britain and the United States without threatening the Pacific.

Caly Kester a 35 year old farmer was found dead at his home with a head wound and a bullet through the thigh. The coroner's jury ruled death the result of an accidental discharge from his own pistol. Police had at first suspected murder with robbery but found $62 undisturbed on the body.
In Fayetteville on June 13 AP the defense for Mrs May belle Phillips and Kenneth C Boone began presenting evidence in the murder trial of Frank McLaurin. A recess granted after a defense petition allowed realignment following testimony from state witness C H Savage. Savage affidavit from Atlanta federal prison may be introduced. The trial is not expected to reach the jury before Wednesday or Thursday.
The annual conference of North Carolina teachers of vocational agriculture opens at State College Raleigh and runs through June 25. One hundred fifteen teachers from 65 counties and 110 communities attend two weeks of intensive study prepared for the next year. The event integrates with the State College summer school under T F Brown.
In Winnipeg police link a confessed strangler to the murder of Lola Cowan a 27 year old wife and a 14 year old schoolgirl found in a rooming house. The suspect had already been tied to similar killings on the U S Pacific coast.
Paris reports Leon Daudet royalist leader jailed for libel in the death of son Philippe surrendered to police and firemen at 7:30 am after three days of defiance. He had held out behind barbed wire at the L Action Francaise office during the siege.
A model house for women in Laurinburg's mill district will be remodeled and furnished as a community demonstration. Miss Catherine Millsaps reports the house is secured from mill authorities and will be used by Mrs. Mary B. Sanford for club meetings as mill workers assist with painting and refinishing. The plan aims to follow the model at low cost.
Raleigh June 11 AP Three additional loans to World War I veterans were approved by the North Carolina veteran loan bureau bringing total loans under the act to 14. The latest awards went to veterans in Sanford Mount Olive and Dunn and totaled 85060 dollars.
Charles A. Lindbergh told the Minnesota Society that regular transatlantic air service between major Old and New World cities is inevitable but unlikely within the next decade.
A party of High Point residents sighted two large black hog bears around 11:30 p m five miles below Asheboro on the Asheboro Seagrove road in Randolph county. The group stopped and armed themselves but failed to bag the bears after pursuing them into nearby woodland.
In Middleburg on June 13 AP reports the Vance County home demonstration club women are studying improved vegetable cooking methods with discussions and demonstrations when possible. Clubs have completed clothing work and a contest to select winners will be held at a forthcoming event.
